Established on the 6th February 1857 pursuant to the County and Borough Police Act 1856. At the time of amalgamation in 1968 the force had an establishment was 1042 and had absorbed the following:
Buckingham Borough Police. Est. 1836 with a strength of 3 officers. Merged 1/4/1889.
Chepping Wycombe Borough Police. Est. 3/2/1849 with a strength of 3 officers. Merged with Buckinghamshire 1/4/1947 by which time its strength had risen to 48.

Description: Dark blue body, black chassis; black roof; black plastic seat and steering wheel; gold grille; red 12 spoke wheels; plain black tyres; gold plated parts; type 3 engraved rear doors; red rear lights; with base hole at rear of body; Bucks Constabulary emblem above 'BUCKINGHAMSHIRE POLICE' in silver lettering on both sides of van; 'POLICE HEADQUARTERS, EXCHANGE STREET, AYLESBURY, BUCKS' in silver on sides of van below cab window; 'POLICE' in white lettering on front of cab roof and on rear door; AC 154 on rear numberplate.
